What's This Redness On My Face?

The general redness is always there in a triangle formation on each side of my face, along with the darker red marks. I get only the occasional pimple in that area, and I never had severe acne. Do you think it could be rosacea? Any help would be great.

Remove Wheat / Grains To Cure!

I cured my Rosacea 15 years ago by taking all wheat and most grains out of my diet. I started taking a good probiotic ( Five-Lac - see Amazon). I started eating more raw veggies. My skin is now pale soft and beautiful - I am 52. Also, Rosacea is common w/ even a speck of celtic heritage.

If I eat grains, excess sugar of spicey foods, red meats or coffee - the redness may return for a few days.

There is a huge relationship between the gut and the skin. If there is inflammation in the gut - due to ingesting the 5 foods most like to cause sensitivities ( wheat, corn, dairy, soy.. and most GMO grains) - then there is likely to be inflammation in the skin.

~Below is Dr. Mercola's take on the no grain approach.

http://articles.merc...estimonial.aspx

~And here is anarticle expanding on the subject of the gut, the skin and alkaline diets...

http://www.dermaharm...androsacea.aspx

I saw results in 2 weeks!

To get me off grans: I substituted low gluten grains such as quinoa and millet - both delicious, & can be served sweet with honey and butter for breakfast - or with savory foods for dinner.

Blotchy Pink Skin?

$

I've got a strange pattern of cheek pinkness. It's fairly even on the apples of my cheeks, but toward my jaw, the pinkness starts to get splotchy. The splotchiness is nowhere near red. Instead, it's a light pink. It doesn't show up too much in sunlight, as I'm pretty pale, but it looks pretty awful under fluorescent light. Does anyone know what this is and how to treat it?

As a side note, I've got a bunch of minor skin problems like blackheads and clogged pores that are either skin-colored or red. I'm hopefully taking care of those blackheads and clogged pores. I've also got some minor scarring and hyper-pigmentation, but my skin clears scars up fairly quickly, so not too bad. My main concern is the splotchiness.

Red Skin, A Little Swollen After Benzoyle Pyroxide

Hello, it's my first post here, so I wanted to treat my acne problems, made a little research decided to go on benzoyle pyroxide regimen, I am from Europe so I couldn't order medicine from this site, so I told my mum to buy BP in pharmacy, so she brought home one tube of gel (I told her it needs to be 2,5%), so I cleaned up my face put it on and went to sleep first day, while sleeping it smeared around my face covering my eye areas and eyelids, they got little swollen, second day I did the same now my eyelids are a little swollen, red and it feels like they are burning, also i found out that my BP is 10% (it says 100mg per 1g, so I gues it's 10%), not only my eyelids ofc, some parts of my face are really iritated.

So here comes my question, what should I do? - carry on with regimen, but with new BP 2,5% or treat this "redness" with something?

I Had Seborrheic Dermatitis For 6 Months, Now Cured And No Signs Of It Coming Back

I would say my case was a little above mild, sorry I don't have pics, but I had like 8 persistent SD spots on my face for about 6 months. It was more embarrassing than when I had a breakout, at least with pimples, everyone knows what it is and never pointed it out, and at least a third of the people at your school will have acne to a degree. But with SB, people would either always ask me what's on my face or assumed it was marks left by acne.

I think time was the main healer, but these definitely helped cure me:

Washed my face with Borax every night for like 2 weeks and then once a week after that for a month. Yes, Borax the detergent lol. I know, I know, it sounds strange and maybe even dangerous, so please use at your own risk, but it worked for me after a second derm told me about it. I pour a little in a bowl and mix with warm water to create a face scrub. GENTLY scrub for a couple of minutes and then I would leave it on my face for 15 minutes before washing it off. Bring a magazine with you and prepare to sit in the bathtub, 'cuz once it dries up, it starts to fall off your face, so you don't want to go anywhere and make a mess. It helped cure me completely, I started to see results after a few days. AGAIN, please ask your derm first before putting Borax on your face, everyone's skin is different, mine could handle it but some might not be able to and it could cause a bad reaction.

After Borax, I mix Lamisil cream and Cortizone10 in a 1:1 ratio and apply on spots and leave it on overnight (I did this every night for 6 months). I also substituted Lamisil for Lotrimin (athlete's foot cream) and it worked too.

I was also taking oil of oregano orally (pill form, it's supposed to help with inflammation), not sure if it did anything for SB but my derm recommended it.

For the first 5 months, it would fade only for it to resurface a day later. It wasn't until after 6 months, it cleared completely and didn't come back. Good luck and I hope for the best!

Help! Is This Rosacea?

I have had acne since I was 14 (now 23), but last night- after drinking a glass of wine- my face then erupted into what I first thought were hives. They were gone by morning, but at the time I was really scared! Does this look like rosacea, or should I see an allergist?

Help Identify These Spots?

$

Hello

Ive had these 2 spots on my face for over a year and a half now, I know I need to go to a dermatoligist and will in a few weeks when my insurance kicks in

In the meantime, can someone help possibly identify what this looks like?

Does it look like perioral dermatitis? Hyperpigmentation blocthes?

They don't itch at all and don't get flaky at all unless I put something on them that dries them up- but they are always there, they won't go away

They are a bit flaky in the photos below since i've been using Nixoderm on them past few days, which seems to be lightening them up just a tad,t but they're still there and it's super frustrating

Certain lighting makes the 2 blocthes look absolutley horrific when looking in the mirror

Any help would be appreciated

Cheek Issues. What Is This? (Pic)

Hey all -

First time post. Does anyone with any experience know what is occurring on my cheeks? It always seems rough, reddish, large pores, bumpy and has an oily glare when i move my head around in the light, even oily looking/shiny when coming fresh out of the shower.

Current routine:

Benzoyl Peroxide 5% bar in the morning and at night.

I've used Neutrogena Oil Free Face Wash before as well twice a day with the same issues of this always showing up.

I just want smooth cheeks!

Any ideas on what this looks like/could be?

Thanks

You Gotta Try This!

So, I always thought my red, dry face skin was genetic. I tried lots of moisturizers and different ways of washing etc etc. My skin had what almost felt like a layer of plaque on it, even after washing/exfoliating/moisturizing. Then I discovered this showerhead that filters out chlorine and other impurities. It's made by a company called "Culligan". I really hope everyone here will try this out, it's made such an amazing difference in the look and feel of my face..and all the skin on my body for that matter! My blackheads have shrunk, and the splotches of red are gone. The dryness and flaking has stopped...and my hair is nicer, too. I can even wash my face in hot water in the shower, and it doesn't dry out.

I figured I should share this, incase some of you haven't tried it..or heard of it. Seriously try it out, the showerhead is like $30, it comes with one filter and replacements (replace roughly every 6 months) are about $15.

Try it!

Hi guys, I'm new to acne.org but think its an amazing site (I've spent the past few days reading lots of stories).

I've just recently started a skin-diary type blog because I was prescribed treatment for mild acne. I've just done a post about 3 moisturisers for red/flushed/acne prone skin so check it out:

Are there any really good anti-redness moisturisers around? Just looking for some recommendations.

Thanks, Abbie x

Flushing While On Accutane - Enough Reason To Stop? Help!

$

Hello guys

First of all, sorry for my english as is not my native lenguage.

I'm a 29 years old man and I suffer from Rosacea but I also have cystic acne.

I'm taking Accutane for the acne. I took 10mg during the first month, then 20mg for 12 days and then 30mg for 12 days and I started to have some bad flushing with deep burning in my face and ears. This flushing episodes used to happen in the night, lying in my bed doing nothing and with exertion the burning was very bad! So I decided to stop and giving it some time. By about the second day, the flushing went almost completely away and after one week I decided to start again, so I took 20mg, and then I started to have flushing again! With only one pill  and after being off Accutane during a whole week. Now I don't know what to do. I'm from Chile and doctors here are not very good, so I don't trust them...

I was reading the big thread about flushing. But it seems that most people got flushing post Accutane and not while on Accutane, or I am wrong? So what happens with those who experience flushing in the early stage of the treatment?

Basically, I would like to know if is this a normal / common reaction while on Accutane? or when this happens, it mean that is time to stop to avoid damage?

I know that Accutane is used for rosacea in very low doses. The problem is that I'm using it for acne and besides that, I have rosacea.

I would appreciate some advices and I would like to hear some experiences from those who had flushing while on Accutane, in the early stages of the treatment.

There's people with a lot of knowledge here, probably more than my doctors, so it would be very helpful to read your comments.

Thanks.

Erythema? Telangiectasia? Please Help Me With My Facial Redness!

$

Hello!

I have had a medium sized patch of redness on my face for the past two years or so. I don't actually know what caused it, but I think it may have been from a small ingrown hair infection I had. It does not change and does not get worse, so I haven't ever been concerned about it, but I recently went to the dermatologist to try to find an answer and was told it was "possibly erythema due to telangiectasia". He said, if this is the case, there is no medicine to alleviate the redness.

Does anybody have any knowledge on this, or have experience? I am just hoping there is *something* that can lessen the redness. It is more noticeable in person than it is in pictures, which is why the pictures I attached (with poor bathroom lighting) don't show it as well as it could be shown.

*The dermatologist also said laser therapy can be used for this. Does anybody have any experience with laser therapy for an isolated spot on their face like this? Would that cause a large scab to form as it heals?

Thanks in advance for ANY help you can offer me. shifty.gif

*Note: it is the same spot -- one of the pictures is just a mirror image. surprised.gif

Nothing To Fade This Really? (Pic)

Hi guys, I have been to my derm last friday due to redness.  I have been on Duac for a couple of months which cleared acne pretty quickly but did nothing or even might had cause redness.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/831/photoon20130303at211pm.jpg/

She said that she couldn't do anything for it and I was kinda disappointed.  She said it's simply redness and not another condition.

To my surprise, I had better results using Acnefree (still redness) than Duac, and wonder if I should go back on it or either try Proactive/Neutrogena.

I really wonder why I have those redness, especially around my nose/mustache and what to get rid of them.

thank you.
